Youth Formation
Confirmation preparation is available for youth ages 14 and older, as well as adults. Topics covered in the formation program include:
- Why confirmation?
- Life lessons and skills:
- The Gospel – What do you believe?
- Scripture – Its purpose and meaning
- Prayer – The Book of Common Prayer, The Book of Alternative Services, other denominations and offerings from the Anglican Communion
- Traditions, architecture, historical creeds, liturgical colours, sacraments, ritual and meaning
- World religions
- Faith in action
- Bless or confirm?
The confirmation program lasts a year and requires commitment from both the participating youth and their parents. Meetings are scheduled at the convenience of those in the preparation group and are generally 2 hours in length. At the end of the preparation process, the candidate decides if they seek to be confirmed or to receive a blessing from the bishop during the bishop’s visitation to St. Stephen’s.
Please speak to the clergy if you are interested in preparing for the rite of confirmation.
